Dr. Ramos established Eastern Virginia Eye Associates in 2003. With military roots, she was raised in the Hampton Roads area, graduated from Norfolk Academy, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and then her doctorate degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry/Salus University in Philadelphia, PA. She is married to Dr. Shane Swatts and they reside in Chesapeake with their two daughters.
Dr. Ramos has truly enjoyed seeing her patients and their families grow throughout the years. It is this personal connection with her patients that she feels has made this her true calling and has made her genuinely love her profession. Today, Dr. Ramos focuses on pediatric eye care, particularly learning-related vision disorders. In her primary care practice, she emphasizes the importance of preventative eye care, such as nutritional supplements and eyelid hygiene, to ensure a lifetime of eye health and comfortable vision. She works closely with other doctors in the practice to manage medical conditions, such as dry eye and glaucoma, as well as other vision conditions, such as eye teaming and focusing issues.
After completing internships at the Beverly Hills Laser and Vision Institute in California, Newington Veterans Hospital in Connecticut, and the Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic in North Carolina, she graduated and accepted a position at the renowned Vision and Conceptual Development Center in Washington, DC. There she diagnosed and treated children and adults with developmental delays, ADD/ADHD, autism, and sensory integration dysfunction. She also performed vision rehabilitation on stroke patients and those suffering from traumatic brain injury.
Being an athlete herself, Dr. Ramos was invited to use her knowledge of vision at the National Football League (NFL) combines in Indianapolis, IN in 2001 where she worked with professional athletes and recruits, evaluating their visual performance and eye coordination skills.
Dr. Ramos was awarded 'Top 40 under 40' in 2004. She is a graduate of the Disney Business Institute where she learned to implement the world-renowned Disney service principles to better her patient's experience at Eastern Virginia Eye Associates. She has also completed the Management Business Academy program and was featured in the MBA publication. She is a member of St. Stephen Martyr, Roman Catholic Church. She enjoys traveling and stays physically active, especially practicing yoga for balance and relaxation. She is married to Dr. Shane Swatts and they reside in Chesapeake with their two daughters.
