Dr. Teten, was born premature, and therefore, was monitored for ocular health and vision conditions since she was a baby. She started wearing eyeglasses at the early age of three and remembers those early years of enjoyable eye exams with her local optometrist. These experiences motivated her to pursue an optometry career, where she is committed to helping her patients, both adults and children, have healthy eyes. In addition to providing her patients with quality comprehensive eye care, her interests include managing diabetic eyecare, dry eye disease, ocular allergies, and fitting contact lenses. Dr. Teten has a passion for pediatric optometry. Also, she has a special interest in vision therapy, where she has experience in the treatment and management of binocular vision issues, such as amblyopia, strabismus, and convergence insufficiency.
Dr. Teten is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association.
Dr. Teten lives in Chesapeake with her husband, and their two Cockapoo dogs. She and her husband are involved in activities at Wave Church where they are members. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dogs, working out, volunteering at church, spending time with family and friends, visiting the Botanical Gardens, reading a good book, and watching Nebraska football games.
